Not surprisingly, it seems that Monferrato represents the cradle of this ancient grape, as suggested by a document dated the 17th century, now preserved at the municipality of Nizza Monferrato, which refers to Barbera by its current name for the first time. Furthermore, in the 1800s, several scholars referred to the grape as “\u003cem\u003eVitis vinifera montisferratensis\u003c\/em\u003e.” The label depicts a mullet, referencing the “spiny” character of this wine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSette Rosato is made from a single black grape variety cultivated according to the principles of organic and biodynamic agriculture. The plants are approximately 15 years old and are rooted in complex soils low in organic matter.
